What We Offer
Ballet
Classical ballet improves balance, mobility, stability, agility, flexibility, and musicality. Ballet technique is challenging and rewarding at the same time. Through repetition, practice, correction, attention to detail, and intense focus, ballet can be very grounding in a world of chaos.
From plies and tendus at the barre to grande jetes in center. Each class starts at the barre regardless of level throughout the life of ballet dancer. A ballet dance class around the world is taught in this way as a progression to building simple steps into more complex steps.

Contemporary dance
Expressive and technical at the same time. Contemporary dance originated from modern dance but then evolved and incorporates everyday movements with ballet, jazz, gymnastics, modern dance, and sometimes even traditional folk dances and commercial dance forms. Ever evolving and very stylised. Floorwork and the weight of gravity in relation to the body is an integral component of contemporary dance. Dance technique drawing from modern dance (Graham, Limon, Horton, etc.), postmodern dance (release technique, Judson church era - Steve Paxton, Yvonne Rainer, Simone Forti, Trisha Brown), classical ballet, jazz dance, and even gymnastics really make this exciting dance style such a dynamic form to practice for all ages.

Contemporary Ballet
Many major ballet companies are now adding new dance styles to their repertory and that includes hiring contemporary dance choreographers to commission new works on their classically trained dancers. What has emerged is this new blend of contemporary and ballet. The base is still very classical ballet but with different contemporary nuances such as the use of floor work, unconventional partnering, abstract themes, barefoot/soft shoes instead of pointe shoes.Next class:

Tap dance
Clickety-clackers. Rhythmic, technical, joyful, and uniquely different than other dance styles because tap dancers use their feet not just to dance but also to make music. The shoes have metal affixed to the bottom of the heel and the toe. Very distinctly American dance form has its origins from American history and black slavery. Once used as communication tool for black slaves evolved into a complex and well developed vocabulary of steps, turns, slides, nerve taps, and complex jumps. Made popular by old Hollywood stars like Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Bojangles, and Shirley Temple. Tap has seen a resurgence of popularity with its blending of different street dance styles, jazz, West African dance, Irish dance, American clogging, Spanish flamenco, Swing dance, and Lindy hop.

Lyrical Jazz
Lyrical jazz is an expressive dance style that blends the technical foundations of jazz with the fluidity and emotion of ballet and contemporary dance. Dancers interpret the lyrics and mood of a song, telling a story through fluid movements, sustained extensions, and deep emotional connection. Musicality, technique, expression, fluidity are elements of lyrical jazz that make this style therapeutic for most dancers.

“There are likewise three kinds of dancers: first, those who consider dancing as a sort of gymnastic drill, made up of impersonal and graceful arabesques; second, those who, by concentrating their minds, lead the body into the rhythm of a desired emotion, expressing a remembered feeling or experience. And finally, there are those who convert the body into a luminous fluidity, surrendering it to the inspiration of the soul.”
Isadora Duncan
Stretch and Stability
Stretching and stability exercises go hand in hand. Dynamic stretching and stability exercises help the body sustain a well balanced body for dance and sports. Inspired by yoga and pilates as well as mobility exercises, this class is open for everyone that wants to increase their flexibility, stability, and mobility. The class always starts with dynamic exercises that warm up the body followed by stability exercises that strengthen the bodies' ability to maintain a balance. We close out the class with some more passive stretching since the body is now warm. ALL AGES are welcome.
