The first guest artist workshop series kicks off during our OPENING PARTY at 11:30-13:00.
I am a dancer, choreographer, and dance teacher originally from Tokyo, Japan. After graduating from Arnhem Dance Academy in 2001, I began my professional career in Europe, performing with companies such as Norrdans, Skånes Dansteater, and Zappalà Danza. Since 2009, I have worked as a freelance dancer, choreographer, and teacher, collaborating with various international artists and ensembles. Drawing from my Japanese heritage and life in Sweden, I create dance productions and interdisciplinary projects through RUM I DANS, the cultural association I founded and currently lead. My work blends these cultural influences into a unique dance and theatre language that connects deeply with audiences while fostering creativity, dialogue, and community.
Rumiko will be teaching a modern dance class that is inspired by Jose Limon’s modern dance technique methods of fall & recovery, breath, musicality, and the use of weight and gravity. You don’t want to miss taking this workshop!
